Economic Development
Economic development is the lifeblood of our city. We must take a proactive approach and recruit the right businesses here while also supporting our current businesses to stay and expand here. Through a robust Economic Development Corporation and strong partnership with our Chamber of Commerce, we can provide the opportunities for businesses to thrive in Santa Fe.
Taxes and Fiscal Responsibility
During my time on council, I have fought for lower taxes and responsible spending. I am proud of the financial transparency and fiscally conservative budgets that we have passed since I have been on council. Each year there are always more needs than funds and there will be an even higher demand on our budget as our city grows. Many times in the recent past, the mayor has broken a tie on council setting the tax rate. This is why we need a fiscally conservative Mayor with a focus on empowering our businesses to drive more commerce and help bridge the gap.
Drainage and Infrastructure
Drainage and infrastructure are constant issues as we continue to grow. For many years, our street and drainage maintenance has been underfunded leading to a significant challenge. The solution will require buy-in from our partners, multiple funding sources and a plan that is fiscally responsible while meeting the growing needs of our city. Improving our roads and drainage will be a priority for me as your next Mayor.
Parks and Amenities
Parks enrich our lives and provide opportunities for our families to enjoy the outdoors and each other. We are blessed with several beautiful parks but there is always ways that we can expand and improve. Taking advantage of grants and community partnerships, we can incorporate amenities into our public spaces that will benefit the next generation of Santa Fe families.
Growth
Santa Fe is growing, and that's not going to change. But we have to have a proactive and conservative approach that is sustainable and allows us to retain the unique culture that makes Santa Fe so special. We need a Mayor who will advocate on behalf of the citizens not the developers and lead council in adopting ordinances that will preserve the way of life we all enjoy.
